The Brief

The brief for this year’s JDORAW was to create a personal care brand based around an olympic sport. I decided to go for a hair product made to combat shrinkage for athletes who’s sports have them exposed to the sun for long amounts of time.

This is targeted towards tennis players with curly hair.

Shrinkage

Shrinkage occurs in afro and curly types of hair. Dryness and exposure to heat compacts the hair, shrinking it and leading to a flatter appearance with less volume and shine.

This misrepresents the length of hair and can make it seem like it isn’t growing even after months of maintenance. To get the desired, visible length, hair must be grown out much further than desired which becomes expensive and difficult to manage.

This is where Grow & Show comes in. Using a concoction of natural oils, vitamins, and coconut milk, the product maintains moisture, volume, and shine throughout the day by applying it alongside water after combing out the hair.
